LSD Infrared System LLC (Lenward Worsham) van, and equipment operator scans overhead power lines and equipment with an infrared camera while the driver travels along at normal speeds. If the image on the screen shows an abnormal temperature differential, or "hot spot", the location is further studied to evaluate the need for repair or replacement of the equipment.

Outages may occur at any time and from various causes, including weather, automobile accidents, animals in power lines, falling trees or equipment failure. The infrared inspections will lessen the impact of outages due to equipment failure by finding potential trouble spots. We can minimize cost by finding the problem before the equipment malfunction.

Our equipment is a key element of an expanded preventive maintenance approach that focused on improving service reliability by minimizing circuit interruptions and equipment damage.
